Cease & Desist is an EDM record label, currently focussing on House & Techno – with our own in-house marketing and event promotion team AND our very own internet radio station, The Desistance Radio.

What is Cease & Desist?

Cease & Desist was founded in 2024 after a two-year research and development exercise with a focus on finding, releasing and promoting AWESOME EDM music, artists, producers and DJ’s, regardless of their social media status.

At Cease & Desist we do not request up-front payment to release a record (or for “marketing services”). Nor do we rinse artists of huge commissions and royalties for YOUR work. We are here to promote YOUR music and that’s why our standard model is based on a 50/50 GROSS income deal – meaning we absorb our direct distribution and promotional/advertising costs rather than splitting whatever’s left after!

Equally, we don’t release every track we hear or focus on a volume-type business model. Our back-to-basics, “it’s all about the music” approach aims to assist by providing:

  • Mixing & Mastering Support
  • Distribution & Manufacturing
  • Marketing inc. PR, Pitching, Socials & Playlists
  • Financial Analysis & Reporting
  • Artist Development Support
  • Radio Merchandising
  • Publishing & Sync Licensing
  • Procurement of Artist Management & Booking Agents

Frequently Asked Questions

What type of music do you release?

We are always on the look-out for anything EDM that makes us dance. That said, we're currently concentrating on House, specifically Funky, Piano, Tech, Bass and more commercial "Ibiza" style as well as driving Techno.

Essentially, if it's 4/4 and between 124-140bpm, we're interested.

Can I submit my unreleased demos?

Absolutely! We're currently looking for new releases for December 2024 onwards and are in the process of collating a very special compilation album.

What is your usual artist/label royalty split?

We get asked this question a lot - mainly because people can't understand why we're so different! And why are we different? Because our standard Release & Distribution Agreement is set to a 50/50 split of GROSS revenue!

Why is this different? Because most digital release agreements are NET PROFIT - meaning that the 50/50 split is AFTER distribution costs. With Cease & Desist Records, WE take the costs of standard distribution from our share. That's what a record label should do no?

If I sign a release with you, what can I expect?

If we like a record enough to want to release it (and it fits with our current intake), then you can be assured that we are all FULLY INVESTED in your track and YOU! From that point forward, you are considered one of the family! Welcome!

Ultimately, we don't and won't grow as a label without equal relationships and the growth of our artists and their releases. So whilst we are quite particular in ensuring that you will promote your release as much as we will, we are very much committed to giving you the best opportunity possible to be heard and grow as an artist and brand. EVERY release can expect to receive:

  • Fully digital streaming releases across over 200 platforms including the big ones (Spotify, Beatport, Traxsource, Juno Download, Deezer, SoundCloud, Pandora etc)
  • Social media releases and C&D support across YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook etc
  • A full Media Kit including Cover Artwork, Release-ready audio files, social media banners, Spotify Canvas, social videos and more
  • A copy of the official Cease & Desist YouTube video and thumbnail
  • Your release featured within the Music section of the Cease & Desist Records website
  • Your release added to the Cease & Desist Records Official Shop as an additional revenue stream
  • Multiple radio plays on The Desistance Radio
  • A pre-release promotional email campaign sent to over 200 genre-specific DJs including the DJMag Top 100
  • An option to distribute your release to DJ promo pools such as ZipDJ

Have we missed anything?

Do you offer any services above release distribution?

Yes we do! We offer a range of additional services to suit most needs and requirements. Services include Mixing & Mastering Support, Distribution & Manufacturing, Marketing inc. PR, Pitching, Socials & Playlists, Financial Analysis & Reporting, Artist Development Support, Radio Merchandising
Publishing & Sync Licensing, Procurement of Artist Management & Booking Agents and more.

How does The Desistance Radio fit into all this?

The Desistance Radio is essentially our own public-facing, global radio station enabling us to showcase our releases globally without relying upon commercial radio networks.

And because predominately feature artists with less than 100k monthly listeners, we are focussing our attention on those artists who aren't already receiving commercial airplay and/or large algorithmic support.
